While I was ill

There was a time when I realize how worth is a health. Started to catched a cold last Friday, it was getting worse and followed by fever. Not really remember when did I have been exposed to the viruses, and what's going on with my body's defences. A bit story about cold, it is not easy to catch a cold, because our body immune defenses usually fight off these viruses. our first line of defence is the layer of mucus lining your nose. Unfortunately central heating can dry this, making it less efficient at preventing infections pass through.

Hey, when did the first time I became familiar with this mucus term? Hmm...it was when I was in "Human Toxicology" class, one of the thoughest course in my first year in Environmental sanitation. It was the time when I have to put all the details of human biology sistems part in my mind. The course or maybe the Prof. Mark Van de... he..he...makes everybody in my class had a long night mare. Well, he is good, even too good to be true in giving lectures. Lecturing a-four-hour-class a week and ended with a 30-45 minutes movie about the human toxic cases around the world. He kept high spiritly talking even we were deadly sleepy. Some students even just went home while he was talking. What a behave !!

From the union carbide Plant explosion in Bophal killed about 5 thousands people in India, to the dangerous furniture with formaldehyde inside which still used in the caravan. From tragedies in poorest contries to some cases in the modern western wold. His story even made some of us 'take a vow' not to eat mushroom anymore, ha..ha...

At the end we had to paid for our indolent behavior. Just 2 weeks before the exam, he gave a rehearshal class, as he promised that he would give clues from which parts of his two 200-pages notes that would came to exam. He gave a 2-pages list, and OMG that's all the subtitles of his notes, so ...no choices, WE HAD TO STUDY ALL OF THEM !! Just look at the picture, it was taken during coffee time on that rehearshal class.

Thank's God I passed that nightmare in the 1st exam session, with 45 minutes writing and 1.5 hours oral test. But for some others he said, see you in September...means... failed and they had to do 2nd exam. Although our class had been devided into 2 groups (2 days), still he needed the whole day and evening to questioned the students. From 8 am to 11.30 pm!! What an exams.

Fyi, he is always the 2nd most important person in CES program, and responsible to choose vlir scholars in our program. So, I should thanks to him for he had choosing me as one of the vlir scholars. But that's not only the reason I appreciate him. But actually we (for sure...this is not just me) knew that he is a very good Prof, and just wanted to share all of his knowledge to his students.

I wish I have his spirit and share my knowledges to my students in a better way as a devotional to science and technology. Wow, it is just ITB's motto; for science and technology.

By the way, this time cold virus won and destroy my weekend, and my hubby had to be (again) took care of me so much. So sorry dear, next weeked will be much better I hope...
